I will send out an announcement today.

I think we have consensus around the definition of how IBED and the
OpenFabrics release relate to each other.

My remaining confusion is also around the software release process.

I think this definition of OpenFabrics software release and IBED
distribution release makes technical sense right now. However, having
two release processes is going to make it confusing for customers. This
is why the OpenFabrics BOD asked us to come up with one release process.

Perhaps the software release process (what we are currently calling
OpenFabrics-1.0) could turn into a daily/weekly/monthly user-space
snapshot. We wouldn't need to worry about MPI or other ULPs for these
snapshots.

The IBED distribution release would stay as the long-term plan for
getting a production quality kernel+user space (MPI, etc.) version of
OpenFabrics software for vendors and Linux distros to use.

FWiW, I'm already getting emails/calls with folks confused about IBED
and OpenFabrics releases. We need to get an announcement out ASAP.

  Thanks,

  - Matt
