Too weird,

When I did 
/usr/local/lib/libosmcomp*

I got a segmentation fault ????

So I rebuilt everything from scratch and the problem went away.

Must have had a corrupted file.

I don't think it's a Makefile.am change. It's something else but not
sure what.

Can you send me the output of /usr/local/lib/libosmcomp* ?

Can you do the following in your 1.0 complib:
make clean && make && make install

and rerun the 1.0 OpenSM and see if you still have the problem ?
