Hi Justin,
$RPM_BUILD_ROOT/%{_prefix}/src/%{_name} directory should be created by:
install -d $RPM_BUILD_ROOT/%{_prefix}/src/%{_name}
See line 160 of ofa_kernel.spec.

I did not tried to install OFED on RHEL6 beta yet, but I'll try this soon.

Is it possible that you have "install" application on your server which is not coming with coreutils RPM?
AFAIK, "install -d" should be equivalent to "mkdir -p".
