Can you pull for 1.6?

I have an outstanding question into Roland if we need a general cleanup to get rid of jiffies 64 bit API usage.

If we do, it would need to be part of a larger, well tested patch.

    The time limit test now correctly checks the against
    current jiffies to avoid the hang.
