Actually, no, it isn't that. It's philosophical, a reaction to the
marketing over-hyping of RDMA.

I'm stunned that you've never heard of "put" and "get" ! Never used
CRAY SHMEM or any one-sided interconnect, I guess? MPI uses those
terms, too.
