Although changing the value of the parameter at runtime should not
cause any inconsistencies in the driver, it might affect other
applications running so I personally prefer to have this parameter as
read only and let the system administrator decide on that before
loading the driver.

Again, I prefer not to change the default that used to be till now, so
I'd rather have the default as strong ordering.
