Put another way, how do you know when the SM LID value in<BR>

/sys/infiniband/.../sm_lid is the correct value ? Is it<BR>

better to check that the value is neither 0x0 nor 0xffff ?<BR>

Or do you go by the state of the port (armed or beyond as you mentioned)<BR>

and then read the sm_lid value ?<BR>
