[openfabrics-ewg] iWARP Support in OFED 2.0 (Was OFED 1.1 planning meeting)

Bill et al:
I still think this needs to be addressed outside of the EWG mailing list
until members have officially joined EWG. In Openfabrics-general and
openfabrics-promoters. We need to focus on having the iWARP vendors
join EWG - this is the first step. The second step would be initiating
discussions on OFED 2.0 release logistics and features with iWARP -
something that is definitely appropriate for the EWG mailing list.
About requirements for joining EWG, I would rather have Shawn Hansen,
who is the chair, comment on this.

Sujal,
I think the iWARP vendors that have joined OFA (NetEffect, Chelsio and
soon,
I believe, Neterion and Quadrics - and they are all copied on this
email)would appreciate your reminding everyone of the requirements to
join
OFED working group from the time these requirements were generated by
the
EWG and agreed to by the Board of OFA.
Then iWARP representatives, please respond so we can all get a sense of
what
the status of the iWARP patches and drivers are for kernel acceptance,
Linux
distribution adoption and OFED EWG inclusion.
Is this an OK approach to everyone?
Bill.

That is a good initiative Bill.
Bear in mind that OFED 1.1 is more of a "filling-the-holes" release to
OFED 1.0. So, we would like to keep the focus on OFED 1.1 limited to
meet customer requirements and commitments (key Wall Street companies
and Labs).
We need to plan for an OFED 2.0 alpha prior to SciNet06 that includes
iWARP. I would suggest starting a separate thread on OFED 2.0 planning
in the openfabrics-general mailing list and move that discussion to
openfabrics-ewg after iWARP vendors have officially joined the EWG per
the requirements approved earlier by the promoters (when EWG was
approved).
That is my two cents. Would request Shawn, the Chair of EWG to comment
on this.
Thanks
Sujal

Sujal, Jeff, et al:
Could the EWG please include in its planning the integration of the
iWARP
code into an OFED release or release candidate in sufficient time for
the
OpenFabrics SCinet06 team to be able to operate the OF part of SCinet
with a
single set of OFED code supporting both IB and the RDMAoEthernet.
Steve Lyness is the leader of the overall OFA SCinet06 team, Helen Chen
is
leading the Ethernet part.
Thank you.

Jeff,
20 will be adequate. If you are not going to attend, as the Open MPI
maintainer, please send a list of what is planned for the next release.
Thanks
Sujal

Ok. The call information will be sent around shortly.
I unfortunately will be unable to attend this meeting (vacation).
I have scheduled the meeting for 20 dial-in slots. Do we need more than
this?
