[openfabrics-ewg] Toward IBED RC3

I need to disagree somewhat with Matt, yes what was agreed to during the BOD meeting was that the EWG would use the 1.0 RC branch as a starting point..... but it seems like many people seem to think that this was the overriding objective of establishing the EWG ..... which is incorrect and not the primary objective that the BOD approved ..... the primary objectives for the EWG that the BOD approved was to create and maintain a single, multivendor supported, enterprise class OpenFabrics distribution for the end user market and to have a first distribution available as soon as possible. What ever Rel. branch or branches are used to accomplish this should be a subordinate objective.

I am not qualified to say what the Rel. candidate strategy should be to support the first distribution, I will leave this up to the technical people to decide, but I am disturbed by the continued discussion about what branch to use as if this was the primary objective of the EWG. The question we should be asking ourselves is ... is using 1.0 RC the best approach to meeting the primary objectives? ..... and if some people believe it is not it should warrant further debate on whether there are other better approaches rather than squashing dialog.

Folks, the OpenFabrics Board of Directors agreed this working group
should proceed by starting with the current 1.0 RC branch. If you have
a problem with that then we have to go back to the BOD.

So Sujal...yes we did agree on this starting point. Perhaps you don't
like it, but that's the way it's going to be.

Which is the same thing as the 1.0 RC branch that Byran et. al. have
been working on. That is what the board agreed to. Why does Mellanox
keep making this such an issue. Get over it and move on. Send Byran
patches to fix what is wrong in the 1.0 RC branch.
