  I agree this isn't the primary objective.  But we do need a starting
point.  Since you haven't suggested a better one I guess we can proceed
to the real work now.

  So far I haven't heard a good reason why we shouldn't start with the
1.0-rc1 branch.  Someone mentioned the need to fix IPoIB.  That can be
handled by Bryan and Tziporet.   Part of the discussion by the BOD *was*
about what should be the starting point for this release.  The existing
1.0-rc1 seemed a logical starting point, and would serve to combine the
activities of the previous release group with our new EWG.  Once Byran
and Tziporet sync up the necessary patches to the 1.0-rc branch we
should have a decent rc3 candidate.  But then again, I'm a just
technical guy and a customer so what do I know.
