Any progress on getting the ipath patches submitted for the upstream kernel?

It seems to me that there is something wrong with the OFED process if
changes like this (adding support for a new chip revision) are
submitted to OFED and then end up not getting submitted for the
upstream kernel.  Perhaps the rules for OFED kernel stuff should be
closer to the stable at kernel.org rules, ie changes must be queued for
the upstream kernel first (if the changes applies -- obviously things
like SDP or VNIC, or fixes for bugs that don't exist upstream would be
exceptions).
