After trying this on SuSE, it appears that the 32-bit build
there is broken anyway, on x86_64 as well as on ppc64.
 On x86_64, 32-bit libs have a different *name* than the 64bit
ones - e.g glibc-devel-32bit. On ppc64, the 64-bits do that
e.g glibc-devel-64bit. This is done with the "build" tool,
that is used to build packages for SuSE. 
On RedHat this is not needed since packages with different
arch do not cause conflicts.
