Dave, thanks very much for the comment. I'll follow-up and let you know what I learn

*                 Need for "soft" tools
- This is emulating HW without having the real HW (like soft-iWARP, and SoftRoCE). Good for development - Jim will take this and see if this can be pushed. [JR]: right, I took this one. I think there are two such tools, IBM Zurich for iWARP and SFW for RoCE. It'd be great if there was such a tool for InfiniBand -- does anyone happen to know?

DW: The Soft RoCE from SFW is running the InfiniBand transport, so it meets my needs of having "loopback" connectivity on generic hardware, as well as cheap development-only clustering over generic ethernet. Having this functionality rolled into the OFED trunk and eventually into a standard distro would be helpful.

Tziporet, this is very good. I have a few additional comments below. Thanks again for letting me discuss these points in today's meeting. I look forward to reporting back on progress on these issues

Some captures I took in the meeting today:
(Please add more if you have)

WIKI - we have tried it and the main problem was keeping the WIKI updated. The OFA members are not enough interested in doing it. However if OFA will found UNH group that will do it the community will be able to support them. Jim and Rupert will take this offline

Package:
- Easy way to get the sources only
- Provide binaries for specific OSes
- How to make sure OFED install works well with the distros ?
- Enterprise customers should take the support from Distros, and we should work with the Distros to push all new needed features to them.

*                 Website:
                - Provide for the open community to be able to support issue discussion
                - Installing upgrades and management are not easy
                - Developing a true feedback infrastructure involves *you* the audience
- Users questions - we can have a new reflector but need someone that will answer the questions, and maybe users working group. Need to find a way for pushing this. [JR]: Jim and Rupert will follow-up offline on some possible support activities that could be initiated at UNH

* Quality Control: not sufficient for true 24X7
- This feedback is not clear. OFA is not providing support directly, only the vendors and distros will provide it. [JR]: This was an important conclusion. In my mind I hadn't connected "quality" with vendor support. It suggests an interesting approach of being more clear on what OFA can and should so, WRT vendors and distros, in delivering full value to our customers

* Need monitoring and debug tools
- This comes up to business - need a lot of investment here, and no one wish to give this for free. There are solutions that can be purchased from the vendors. [JR]: same comment as above re what OFA does and what our partners do. We need to explain this better and leave it to other forces to drive something into OFA

* Coordination w/ Distros/Packaging: OFED not same as distros.
                Note: this is listed for completeness, but will the subject of other meetings to be called by Bill

*                 Need for "soft" tools

* Interoperability not sufficient to current needs, much less projected
- UNH testing all equipment they have. Need to make sure multi-vendor equipment is working. Need to see what should be added to the interop program. [JR]: There were a couple of issues here. One was the desire to talk to Zarka of HP more to get a better definition of the problem. I have that AR along with Rupert. The second is for Rupert to think about all of this and see what makes sense to discuss in the IWG

* Improve version control and compatibility across versions
- Need to add testing of different OFED versions (e.g. 1.5.1 with 1.5.2 etc.). Maybe interop testing can cover this as well. [JR]: yes, again, I think this is something Rupert can consider in the IWG. I captured this as possibly partly a testing issue and possibly a documentation issue
