Hi Michal,
Patches that were accepted upstream after kernel 4.8 release should go 
to the linux-next-cherry-pick directory.
Patches that were submitted upstream but not yet accepted should go to 
the linux-next-pending directory.
Code under linux-4.8 includes the sub-trees for the relevant components 
taken as is from linux-4.8 sources tree. Some components were added 
there later on. But no other patches should be applied to this git tree 
directly.
