The postings were more in the realm of helping with debug rather than a
solution. The last postings requested that mthca be built with
CONFIG_INFINIBAND_MTHCA_DEBUG=y and send the kernel output you get
when you load ib_mthca. That might help to figure out the problem or
what the next step is.

One of my machines is IA-32 with PCI-X IB so I do this all the time
without an issue.
