The point is to be able to first configure all libraries, then make them.
I have a central configure script that configures the rest of the
libraries. In monolotic builds, configure checks are just a hassle.

Yes, thats unfortunate. But thats not a problem for me since 
I make things in order. Its only the configure step compiling test
programs that presents a problem.
