It's a real not virtual port.

Are you sure this is port 1 ?

Is the SM bound to the correct port (GUID) ? Does the SM guid in the log
match the port 1 GUID from ibstat or ibstatus ? Please send the
ibstat/ibstatus on each machine.

No. It should work back to back HCA as well.

That's a matter of physical link negotiation between the peer HCA ports
in your configuration. What firmware are you running ?
