I don't understand what you mean?  They can use:

  --sysconfdir=DIR       read-only single-machine data [PREFIX/etc]

This works for me.  Perhaps I should change the other config files to use
sysconfdir?  I have not done so because of legacy reasons, but I think it would
be more correct, no?
