[ofa-general] [PATCH] IB/ipath - second prep series for iba7220

hi roland,  these are changes which help prepare
for the upcoming iba7220 driver series.  these
are changes to the existing code only, and do
not support the iba7220 directly, but should help
to make reviewing the iba7220 code easier when
it finally arrives.  it looks like we will prob
not be able to get the iba7220 driver into 2.6.25,
as i'm still staring at quite a jumble of patches in
front of it and time is getting very short.  but
i don't think anything is made worse by these cleanups...
