[ofa-general] Usage of Infiniband Protocol Stack ?

I have some applications(mvapich2, pvfs2 ...) compiled to use the OFED Infiniband protocol stack.

May be a stupid  question ..:
Is it valid to see at the "ifconfig ib0" stats to report the usage of IB protocol stack,  regardless what application I making use of the IB stack.?
