Eli,

You can examine the kernel stack of all processes, including yours... using
sysrq ($ echo 1 > /proc/sysrq-trigger and then $ echo t >
/proc/sysrq-trigge) and looking in the dmesg. e.g see if some other process
which deals with umad is in the D state...
