You mean the new HCA driver?  The rest of the stack already supports 32-bit apps
on 64-bit kernels, so the only missing link is the HCA driver.  There are 32-bit
MPI apps where the value of IB is lost due to the lack of kernel bypass when
using WSD, hence the patch.  If you're talking about the new HCA driver, is
updated source in SVN somewhere?

If the current HCA driver is going to reach its end of life, there's no harm in
putting the patch in - it only changes the HCA driver, and allows us to have
support for 32-bit apps now.  It's a minor change, and gives us a smaller change
than switching HCA drivers altogether.  It also gives us a reference point
against which to compare the new HCA driver, which can't hurt.
