Thanks for the patch.  I implemented something a little different - I
changed the definition of the IO class and subclass constants to be in
network order and eliminated the run-time byte swapping on those
fields when doing comparissons.

This is committed in revision 513.  Please give it a shot and let me
know if you run into any issues.
