After running through some circles, I finally resolved my problem. The
device class was removed from the registry, so even with hidden devices
set to be shown, and devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1, the Infiniband
class of devices was not visible, and therefore preventing me from
upgrading the driver. This was also blocked through the add hardware
interface. The only way I was able to recover was to go thru the add
new hardware process and ignore the flagged Infininband adapter it
showed there, and actually add a second one. This restored the class
view in the device manager and I was once again able to remove/update
the device back to a working state.
