[ofw] [PATCH 0/7] prepare trunk for winverb support

See attached.  This is against a trunk that was updated last week.  (I can't
check the version or update until later tonight.)

Once these are approved, I can commit the patches separately to make it easier
to revert each independent change.  (Since SVN doesn't provide a way to provide
a list of patches that build on each other.)

And again, I haven't tested that the changes work (winverbs testing isn't that
far yet), just that the existing code continued to work with these changes on my
systems (x86 2003).
