We were able to come up with a prioritized wish list for WinOF 2.2 and a target date (based on Microsoft's rollout of Version 3 of the HPC package. These are not committed items and we do not have agreement on if/who would take on each feature at this time. It is simply a list to work from for roadmap planning.
Target date:
Microsoft will release HPC V3 in Q1 of 2010. (They will lock down by Nov. 2009)
WinOF 2.2 should GA no later than 3 months after the HPC release
Prioritized Feature List
§ Tie into a number of Fabric Diagnostics/Data report tools that will be made available by Microsoft.
§ HA (IB Bonding)
§ OpenSM parity
---------------------------------------------------------- Below this line are "nice to have" features
§ ND over Verbs (if not included in 2.1)
§ Diskless Boot / PXE Boot.
§ IPoIB Performance Improvements
§ SRP Target
Other topics
§ Does NDIS6 driver REQUIRE WinServer2008?
o Would we have to ship two packages (one for 2008 and later, one for 2003 and earlier)?
§ At what point to we trim the support matrix e.g. eliminate Windows XP from the list.
§ Put time in schedule for Logo testing before GA
o Once we know the code passes testing each company will be able to submit independently
o This would also allow all of the vendors to "share the pain" of qualification.
§ Feedback on WinOF 2.0
o Everyone was very happy with the improved installation in WinOF 2.0
o An "Update" button would be appreciated.
o Eric will continue to push for Microsoft to allow WinOF to be logo certified for the group.
