The ULPs don't necessarily control this.  For example, SRP I believe gets physical addresses only, from the storport driver.  I believe there are performance implications to forcing virtual addresses to be used.  I think NDIS might have similar issues, though the IPoIB driver already takes the perf hit by mapping the Ethernet header into the kernel address space so that it can do the MAC to GID/LID translation.
