I like Roland's description .... distinguishing the two by one being a Release and the other a Distribution is crisp and I think easy for the general market to understand........ IBED as a distribution is packaged with the end-user in mind and may include additional components that are technology preview oriented (iSER or RDS) or complimentary (MPI) to an OpenFabrics release.

To me the key difference is that OpenFabrics Release 1.0 is a release
of OpenFabrics software, and IBED is a distribution of IB software
that includes release, along with other components (kernel modules,
MPI, etc).
