EWG/OFED the meeting minutes for Apr 26, 2010

Meeting summary:

1. OFED 1.5.2 is planned for end of June
2. Beta release will be ready for the OFA debug event for Monday May 3
3. Decided to exclude MPI from OFED package starting OFED 1.6

Meeting details:

1. OFED 1.5.2 - main features planed:

- Add new OSes: RHEL 5.5 (note that 1.5.1 is working except for qib), SLES11 SP1
  Add RHEL6 beta - optional
- Update the management package - need to coordinate with Sasha
- Add-on packages that does not touch the core:
  - Qlogic wish to add PSM library
- DUPL package with bug fixes
- SDP Zcopy in GA 
- Critical bug fixes

Beta - May 3
RC1  - May 25
RC2  - Jun 8
RC3  - Jun 22
GA   - Jun 29

2. NFS-RDMA to become a GA quality
Tom Tucker explained it is not easy to do in RHEL 5.4 due to the major changes in the NFS sw stack between kernel 2.6.18 and newer kernels that supports NFS-RDMA. 
In general opengridcomputing will be able to do it if some company will found this activity.

3. OFA debug event starts on May 3 and they wish to have first package for this
- We need qib support for RHEL 5.5
- Any bug fix needed for the debug event
Please send all relevant patches to Vlad by end of this week.

4. OFED 1.5.3:
Optional schedule - Sep/Oct

Suggested features so far:
- New Chelsio driver
- SDP Zcopy for iWARP


OFED 1.6:
- As an outcome of the OFED session in Sonoma we decided to exclude MPI from OFED package starting OFED 1.6
