Good point. What I really meant is that every subdirectory of
userspace/ should have it's own autotools setup that generates
configure etc. with a run of "autogen.sh." That makes it easy to make
tarballs for users to build. Developers or others who want to run
from subversion need autotools (which are trivial to install on any
distribution modern enough to run 2.6 kernels).
