Libfabric should support any software/hardware that implements the libibverbs + librdmacm APIs. It has been tested on RoCE, IB, and iWarp.  I don't know if it's been used with SoftRoCE or software iWarp, but it should work.

That said, verbs is a poorly specified API, and different implementations of the API have required updates to libfabric to handle those differences.  So, if you do run into problems, please report them, so that we can update libfabric accordingly.
